LOWVELD GOLF DAY
We hosted our very first EWT Annual Golf Fundraiser in the Lowveld at the Malelane Golf Course on April 30.
The event was oversubscribed and attracted over 30 sponsors, which was unprecedented.
We partnered with local businesses to amass an impressive selection of auction items, including a Jock Safari Lodge voucher sold at R16,000. Current Automation Mbombela also kept the spirit of our guests high by putting a hole-in-one competition at R10,000, which in the end was donated to the EWT, and Mike Scholz, the golf trickster, entertained the guests before prize giving. The event generated R155,000 and has now been established as an annual calendar event for the EWT.
To host a successful event, you need lots of support, and the EWT had that in abundance at this event. A massive thank you to the people of the Lowveld, the sponsors, and the players for their support.
The EWT has held an impressive four golf days this year, starting with one in November 2020 at Jo’burg Royal, another in Cape Town, one in Malelane -Mpumalanga, and the last one back at Jo’burg Royal.
This last was scheduled for May 21 with a lot of regular supporters coming to play for conservation, among them were Laetitia Steynberg, 342 Logistics Pty Ltd, Bakwena, Active Lifestyle Solutions, Kishaylin Chetty, Nandos, KWE, Jurgens Bekker Attorneys, IQ Business, RSAdvisors, SE Solutions, Seremed, DSV Healthcare, Levego, The Meterman, CIB, Indwe Risk Services, AHA, and Wildlife Act on the east course of the club. The event was also well supported by sponsors who made donations not only in funding but also prizes and auction items donated by the following companies and individuals: Thornybush Game Lodge, Canopy Tours, Europcar, Andrew Kirkcamp, Buhala lodge, Shaun Etsebeth, Lloyd Marketing, Chantelle Moss, Greenfinch Lodge, Pro Fans, Nandos, AHA, Syeta Bush Lodge, and Shireen Jones Marketing.
Our guests were also treated to a magical golf entertainment show by Michael Scholz – the golf trickster, and Tijana Kraljevic -golf coach and beat-the-pro lady was on hole five not only to test our guests swing skills but also to provide coaching and fundraise in the process.
The event raised about R250,000, which is epic considering these pandemic times, and so very welcome by the EWT. The EWT wishes to thank our guests, the donors and the sponsors for their time and generosity.
Bookings for the next one open July 1

INTERNATIONAL BIODIVERSITY DAY
On 22 May 2021, we celebrated the International Day for Biological Diversity (Biodiversity Day) to recognise and raise awareness about the importance of biodiversity and consider how we humans impact it and can prevent its destruction. This year’s theme was “We’re part of the solution” because we can have a positive impact on biodiversity and contribute towards a diverse, bright and sustainable future. A heartfelt thank you to all of our supporters who donated to the campaign; we almost reached our target of R22kBefore22May! And it’s not too late to donate to play your part in conserving our biodiversity.
