The Endangered Wildlife Trust would like to invite all primary school learners in South Africa to participate in our exciting Cellphone Photographic Competition, to celebrate our natural heritage and to raise funds for the conservation of endangered species and their habitats in South Africa. Capture a unique “Conserving Urban Habitats” photograph on your cellphone, MMS it to 38383 and stand a chance to win fabulous prizes.
Purpose
The purpose of this competition is to raise funds and create awareness in South African learners to value and conserve our natural heritage
Much of our urban wildlife is losing its natural habitat as a result of housing developments and the expansion of industry. Having a functional habitat is as important for the survival of wildlife as it is for humans. On 4 September 2006, the world celebrates World Habitat Day and we would like to invite all learners from Grade 0 to Grade 7 to submit photos highlighting urban habitats that support our province’s biodiversity.
Help our endangered species find their way home by MMSing your “Conserving Urban Habitats” photos to 38383. MMSs cost R10.

- Use you camera phones to get really close to subjects but still maintain focus.
- When taking photos, take into account the slight delay between pressing the capture button and taking the image.
- You can take photographs at much lower light level with camera phones so it is not always necessary to use a flash.
