The celebration of Easter has its roots in various traditions - one of them being a celebration of fertility and renewal. And if you think about it, it's no wonder that the Easter Bunny (fertility) and gaily painted eggs (renewal) are intrinsic symbols in any Easter celebration. The rabbit is known to breed prolifically, but there is one species that needs your help to flourish - the endangered Riverine Rabbit. The Riverine Rabbit is one of Southern Africa’s most endangered mammals. In fact, the latest edition of South Africa’s Red Data book lists the species as critically endangered. Not surprising, when it’s estimated that there are less than 250 adult rabbits left in the wild!
You can now ‘adopt’ a small or large Riverine Rabbit cuddly toy to help support the work that the EWT does in conserving the eco-system they live in and tracking of the Riverine Rabbits to ensure they have a future.

"At the age of 4, our daughter, Shannon, asked if she could make wine. We helped her through the process and she has now donated the 375 ml bottles of Shannon's Shiraz to the EWT. The proceeds (not profits!) will all go to 'save animals that might become extinct'. This was all her idea." - Mark Lindhorst.
Shannon Lindhorst donated 60 bottles (the entire production) of her Shiraz to help save animals that would become extinct (12 bottles were used at a Wine Auction in February and raised over R4000 for EWT). At age 4 she asked her parents if she could make wine and now that the wine is ready, she decided, with input from her Grade 0 teacher to support our worthy cause.
