The total number of species
declared officially Extinct is 784 and a further 65 are
only found in captivity or cultivation. Of the 40 177
species assessed using the IUCN Red List criteria, 16
119 are now listed as threatened with extinction. This
includes one in three amphibians and a quarter of the
worlds coniferous trees, on top of the one in eight
birds and one in four mammals known to be in jeopardy.

R30 helps pay for the operation of our Poison
Working Groups Wildlife-Human Conflict Help Line
for a day.
R150 pays for one Oribi Custodian Board and Certificate.
These boards and certificates are awarded by the Oribi
Working Group to private landowners who have been acknowledged
as significant contributors to Oribi conservation and
grasslands habitat management.
R650 pays for a San Tracker to track African Wild
Cats in the Kalahari for one month to assist with the
Carnivore Conservation Groups African Wild Cat Study.
R 1000 supports one month of the African Cranes,
Communities and Wetlands Programme in an African country
like Namibia, to build regional Wattled and Grey Crowned
Crane conservation networks with an emphasis on developing
capacity in regional collaborative projects.
R2000 pays the monthly salary of a Conservation
Leadership Group eco-warrior. Eco-warriors are responsible
for driving our environmental education programme in rural
and township schools using a Department of Education approved
curriculum.
